Activities

1.      Created original presentation in Keynote on Mac. Actions, audio, and animations working correctly. Created .mov output.

2.      Converted Keynote to PowerPoint on Mac. Actions, audio, and animations busted. Created .mov output.

3.      Created new presentation in PowerPoint on Mac. Most actions, audio, and animations working acceptably well.

4.      Imported PowerPoint into Captivate 6 on Mac:

a.       Tried to import pptx, but no luck. Used ppt.

b.      Selected option for continuous advance (not click to advance). Imported project did not advance correctly.

c.       Found slide transition settings and changed to continuous advance. Slides still did not advance correctly.

d.      Audio did not import.

5.      Re-recorded audio in Captivate. Edited in Audition.

6.      Slide duration totally whacked. First slide should last 5-6 seconds. Lasts 18. Looked for a way to trim slide duration. Didn't find it.

7.      Published from Captivate 6 (Mac) to .swf and HTML5:

a.       SWF file did not play correctly.

b.      HTML5 did not play correctly.

8.      Imported PowerPoint into Captivate 6 on Windows VM:

a.       Audio imported!

b.      Selected option for continuous advance (not click to advance). Imported project did not advance correctly.

9.      Published from Captivate 6 (Win) to .swf and HTML 5. Results no better than Mac version.

Major problems

1.      On the Mac, PowerPoint animations often don't work in PowerPoint, let alone in Captivate. If I have to use PowerPoint, I'll stick to the Windows version.

2.      Timing of slides was off when imported to Captivate. Changed "On Click" to "After Previous" as suggested in lecture notes. Results were even worse. Animations, when they occurred, were out of order.

3.      PowerPoint to Captivate conversion plain did not work.
