Like cinema or photography,
video games originated
as an entertainment medium,
but evolved into a form of art
and an important tool
for various kinds of human activities. Recent years saw an exponential growth in games innovation, both in content and in technology. At the Game Research Lab, we focus on investigating novel use of games. Can games improve health? How games improve teaching? Can games make us a better people? These are questions we are addressing through a number of research projects.

Game Research Lab is hosted in the School of Computing and Design at the California State University, Monterey Bay.
